Privacy Policy

How the FAKER mobile app handles your information. Effective September 21, 2026.

This Privacy Policy explains how MasaiCode (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with the FAKER mobile app (the “App”) on iOS, iPadOS, and Android. We built FAKER to be privacy-friendly: the core game plays entirely on your device and offline, and we collect as little as possible.

1. The short version

  • No account required. You can play the full core game without signing up or giving us your name or email.
  • Your game data stays on your device. Player names, custom word packs, and settings are stored locally.
  • We don't sell your data. Ever.
  • Analytics are optional and anonymised. They help us fix bugs and improve the game, not identify you.

2. Information we collect

a. Information you provide

The App does not require you to create an account. Any player names, custom word packs, and preferences you enter are stored locally on your device and are not sent to us, except where you use an optional connected feature described below.

b. Information collected automatically

If enabled, we use third-party tools to collect limited technical and usage information to keep the App working and improve it:

  • Analytics — anonymised usage events (for example, which screens are opened and which features are used), a randomly generated app-install identifier, device type, and operating system version. We use this to understand how the game is played in aggregate.
  • Crash and performance reporting — diagnostic data such as crash logs, device model, and OS version so we can find and fix stability problems.
  • Purchase data — when you make an in-app purchase, our payments provider records the transaction and subscription status tied to an anonymous app-user identifier so we can unlock your purchases and restore them. We never see or store your payment card details; those are handled by the app store.

c. Optional online features

If you use optional online multiplayer or AI word-suggestion features, limited data (such as game state, the room you join, or a pack theme you type) is transmitted to our backend service solely to provide that feature. These features are off by default and only active when you choose to use them.

3. How we use information

  • to provide, maintain, and improve the App;
  • to diagnose crashes and fix bugs;
  • to process and restore in-app purchases and subscriptions;
  • to power optional online and AI features you choose to use;
  • to comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process data based on: your consent (for optional analytics where required); our legitimate interests in maintaining and improving the App and preventing abuse; and the performance of a contract when you make a purchase.

5. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We share limited information only with:

  • Service providers that operate the App on our behalf (analytics, crash reporting, purchase processing, and backend hosting), bound to protect the data;
  • App stores (Apple and Google) that process your purchases; and
  • Authorities when required by law, or to protect our rights and the safety of users.

6. Data retention

Data stored on your device remains until you delete the App or clear its data. Analytics and diagnostic data are retained only as long as needed for the purposes above and then deleted or anonymised. Purchase records are retained as required to provide and support your purchases and to meet legal and accounting obligations.

7. Children's privacy

FAKER is a family-friendly party game and includes a Kids mode. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in a way that would require verifiable parental consent, and the core game works without any account or personal data. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Device controls. You can reset your advertising identifier or limit tracking in your device settings, and delete all local game data by removing the App.
  • Access, correction, deletion. Depending on your location (including under the GDPR/UK GDPR and California's CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing.   • Do Not Sell/Share. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses for these transfers.

11. App store privacy labels

Apple and Google require us to summarise our data practices on the App Store and Google Play listings (through Apple's Privacy Nutrition Labels and Google's Data Safety form). Those summaries are consistent with this policy; this policy provides the full detail.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Effective” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
